The Ghatge Family has been known for their charitable work and contribution towards societal development. And the tradition of social work goes back many decades. The Sir Pirajirao Ghatge Charitable Sports Trust was founded in 1957 and Mr.Pravinsinh Ghatge has served as a trustee since the last 30 years.

The family has always had a special love for sports and under the aegis of this trust, they have given the nation several illustrious wrestlers, athletes and swimmers, including Commonwealth Gold Medalist Rama Sarang.

The Trust runs a special swimming training program at Bhavani Tank in Kolhapur that has produced several ace swimmers. The Trust has a rich hall of over 20 national and international swimmers and Veerdhawal Khade, the only India swimmer representing India in Beijing Olympics 2008 is an alumnus of this programme.

The SPGC Trust believes in overall social upliftment for all. That's why, one of the main focuses of the trust is to identify talent from remote villages, nurture that talent with proper training and provide all-round facilities that'll enable them to get jobs and be financially secure.
